Chronic absenteeism can hurt an employer’s productivity and profits. Managing employee absenteeism and tardiness in the workplace and an employer’s right to manage its business is often not a simple task. It is imperative that employers understand and follow applicable employment standards and human rights legislation when developing policies/procedures and managing these issues.
In this e-Learning, we outline the various federal and provincial leaves of absences, as well as discuss how to manage absenteeism related to disabilities and family status. We also cover an employer’s rights and obligations surrounding the collection of medical information.
