Managing Absenteeism in the Workplace

Date Delivered: February 26, 2020

Topic: Managing Absenteeism in the Workplace

Did you know that absenteeism costs the Canadian economy more than $16.6 billion each year, and yet only forty-six percent (46%) of employers track absenteeism? Many employers choose not to track absenteeism for many reasons, including the fact attendance is a difficult issue to address.

Our February e-Learning presentation provides you with the tools you need to understand how to better manage absenteeism in the workplace. The presentation includes the following topics:

  • The difference between culpable and non-culpable absenteeism;
  • How to address culpable and non-culpable absenteeism (spoiler alert – differently!); and
  • How to address attendance issues in the workplace, including attendance policies and attendance management programs.

We also review relevant case law so you can see real world examples of how to (and how not to) manage absenteeism in the workplace.
